AQI Curriculum Outline

The K-5 Islamic studies, Qur'an and Arabic (AQI) curriculum aims to instill a deep understanding of Islamic beliefs, values, history, and practices, while fostering moral development and a strong connection to the teachings of the Qur'an and the Sunnah.

Kindergarten AQI Curriculum

The Kindergarten AQI curriculum introduces young learners to the basics of Arabic, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies through age-appropriate lessons. Students learn Arabic letters and simple words, begin memorizing short Surahs and duas, and explore core Islamic beliefs, practices, and Prophet stories, all with a focus on building good character, cleanliness, and love for Allah and His messengers.
● Islamic Studies- Foundations of Faith & Worship- Islamic Manners & Daily Practice- Stories of the Prophets- Akhlaq (Good Character) & Concepts
● Arabic- Arabic alphabet (letter names and sounds)- Basic greetings- Simple vocabulary (family, colors, animals, numbers 1–10)- Common phrases
● Qur'an- Memorization of short surahs from Juz 30- Short duas- Listening practice for familiarization with short surahs
Approach:
- Weekly story-based lessons with visual aids- Character-building activities- Short memorization and practice tasks- Emphasis on love for Allah, cleanliness, and good manners

1st AQI Curriculum

The 1st Grade AQI curriculum builds foundational understanding of Arabic, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies through engaging stories, practical lessons, and hands-on activities. Students learn to read and write basic Arabic words, memorize short Surahs with proper pronunciation, and deepen their understanding of Aqeedah, Seerah, Fiqh, and manners, nurturing love for Allah and His messengers while practicing personal cleanliness and worship.
● Islamic Studies- Beliefs & Pillars of Islam- Manners & Personal Practice- Salah & Worship- Stories of the Prophets & Seerah- Character Building & Stories with Morals
● Arabic- Arabic alphabet (shapes and positions in words)- Numbers 1–20- Days of the week and basic weather words- Simple sentences- Short Surahs or Islamic phrases- Basic classroom and home vocabulary
● Qur'an- Continued memorization from Juz 30- Short daily duas- Introduction to tajweed basics
Learning Approach:- Weekly story-based lessons with discussion- Practical role-play for wudu, salah, and manners- Worksheets and oral reviews for reinforcement- Simple memorization and visual reminders

2nd Grade AQI Curriculum 

The 2nd Grade AQI curriculum builds on foundational knowledge of Arabic, Qur’an, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Seerah, and Islamic manners. Students expand their Arabic reading skills, memorize additional Surahs with improved fluency, and explore the lives of Prophets while deepening their understanding of prayer, conduct, and Islamic teachings through stories, discussions, and hands-on practice.
● Islamic Studies- Faith & Belief (Aqeedah)- Fiqh & Worship- Seerah & Prophetic Stories- Character Building & Manners
● Arabic- Reading short words with harakat (vowels)- Simple conversations (introductions, family, age)- Vocabulary expansion (fruits, vegetables, body parts) - Common Islamic expressions
● Qur'an- More surahs from Juz 30- Focus on fluency and improving memorization quality- Simple Tajweed rules (e.g., elongation, qalqalah sounds)
Learning Approach:- Story-based instruction with class discussion- Practical prayer demonstrations and group wudu practice- Visual aids and project-based reflection- Character education woven into every unit

3rd Grade AQI Curriculum 

The 3rd Grade AQI curriculum deepens students’ understanding of Arabic, Qur’an, Aqeedah, Seerah, Fiqh, and Islamic character. Students strengthen Arabic reading, begin formal Tajweed practice, and build a deeper connection to the lives of the Prophets and companions through interactive storytelling, memorization, and practical worship activities.
● Islamic Studies- Faith & Belief (Aqeedah)- Fiqh & Worship- Seerah & Prophetic Stories- Islamic Character & Manners
● Arabic- Reading short paragraphs and simple stories- Writing short sentences- Vocabulary: school, clothes, places in town, hobbies- Simple grammar: gender, singular/plural, etc.- Short conversations and polite requests
● Qur'an- Completing most or all of Juz 30- Emphasis on review of previously memorized Surahs- More structured Tajweed
Learning Approach:- Hands-on modeling of worship (wudu, Salah, tayammum)- Story-driven lessons tied to morals and daily life- Character development woven throughout- Review and reinforcement through journaling, projects, and presentations

4th Grade AQI Curriculum 

The 4th Grade AQI curriculum builds upon foundational knowledge in Arabic, Qur’an, Seerah, Fiqh, Aqeedah, and Islamic character by introducing more advanced topics in prayer, purification, belief, and moral conduct. Students strengthen Arabic reading and Tajweed skills, advance in Surah memorization, and engage in meaningful discussions, role-play, and hands-on activities.
● Islamic Studies- Faith & Belief (Aqeedah)- Fiqh & Worship- Seerah & Stories of the Prophets- Islamic Character & Manners
● Arabic- Reading and understanding short texts- Writing simple paragraphs- More advanced grammar: verb conjugation - Vocabulary: food, transportation, feelings, daily routines- Building longer sentences and simple descriptions- Islamic content: short Hadiths or Ayahs with meaning
● Qur'an- Beginning Juz 29- Strong focus on review and fluency of Juz 30- Increased emphasis on Tajweed application
Learning Approach:- Group role-play and peer discussions- Practical application of Fiqh in classroom settings- Seerah storytelling sessions with character reflection- Project-based activities and review games

5th Grade AQI Curriculum 

The 5th Grade AQI curriculum builds on students’ understanding of Arabic, Qur’an, Seerah, Fiqh, Aqeedah, and Islamic character while introducing Tafseer lessons to deepen their connection to the Qur’an. Students strengthen Arabic reading and Tajweed, advance in Surah memorization, and explore worship, purification, belief, and moral values through discussions, practical training, and reflection.
● Islamic Studies- Tafseer & Qur’anic Understanding- Faith & Belief (Aqeedah)- Fiqh & Worship- Seerah & Prophet Stories- Character & Personal Growth
● Arabic- Reading and summarizing short passages- Writing structured short paragraphs- Grammar: past tense verbs, simple sentence structure, possessive forms- Vocabulary: travel, professions, nature, health- Role-play and small dialogues- Understanding meaning of basic Islamic texts
● Qur'an- Continued Juz 29- Consolidating fluency and accuracy across Juz 30 + 29- Mastery of basic Tajweed rules in memorized portions
Learning Approach:- Practical Salah and Taharah (purification) demonstrations- Class discussions, journaling, and Qur’anic reflection- Character-building exercises and role-playing- Weekly application of learned rulings in everyday scenarios
